New week opening like hibiscus

Hibiscus all over the place, golden stamens jutting out of scarlet and rosepink openfaced flowers. Nirvana in colour. I invited two friends over for supper, came home and began composing a spicy chicken dish with fresh ginger and cardamom. I hope it works. For dessert I have thin-skinned delectable peaches. There are mousebirds perching on the kitchen windowsill and chirruping away in avian bliss.

Sober AA friends heading off to the coast or into the mountains pop in to see me. No doubt this says something about me, but my sober friends are all noisy and exuberant crackpots brimming over with wisdom and foolishness. Unless they are reclusive, subtle and slyly humorous. They charge into the kitchen, drink coffee and eat shortbread, fry themselves eggs, greet the dogs, say how much they loathe this time of year and then dash off again, leaving behind beach towels, wet suits, cameras and copies of bonk-buster paperbacks. Keep on trudging! they shout and reverse into ditches, while cursing the sultry gay boyfriend or waving  madly at me instead of eyeing the rearview mirror. Exhausting.

Concluded my Nanowrimo month with 58 000-plus words. About 18 000 are workable. If you want to write a best-selling novel watch this:

  1. Syd says:

I had to laugh at your boisterous friends. I wrote about glumness yesterday. We tend to be more reserved than our AA fellows.

  2. Carol says:

Very cute ‘film’. I’m glad that you were able to do Nano. I wasn’t up to it this month. I don’t know if I will do it again but I hope so.

  3. Akannie says:
