Because I love Shadow and need time out from beating up on myself. And I need to get in touch with my inner haiku. In 55 words or less.
You tell me
it’s snowing on one side of the river only
obsidian river grey as mist
I’m there with you
bringing the equatorial sun and
a pineapple
to make your mouth pucker
I’m looking at night rain in your eyes
those who matter never mind
and the river’s flow is
just ice passing through
pineapple rings like hoops of sweetness
take another bite
Yes, I know it is more than 55 words, but I got hung up on the pineapple and wouldn’t let go of the word ‘obsidian’.
Mary,
Thank you so much for your kind comment and the lemonade award.
Down deep I used to envy the girls in high school and college who were in the popular crowd – I wasn’t.
Maybe I’ve finally made it – no longer caring – without even trying!
I love this post just as I love all you write.
“Go Girl” – hanging onto ‘obsidian’ and the pineapple – love it just the way it is with whatever number of words it has.
Maybe I’ll try another 55 worder – we’ll see!
Very beautiful!
Mary its beautiful and lyrical. I love the direction it went!
LOL at your comment. My feed reader has been messed up ALL week, and I’m beyond frustrated. I have newer posts, they just don’t show up. I made the mistake of editing my HTML to try to fix it. Now I fear it is irreparable!
Wonder if anyone but me had to–or bothered to–look up the word obsidian? I’m not going to save anyone the trouble by quoting the dictionary here, but some of the words people use in these blogs is mighty interesting.
Mary, your writing is clean, and without meaningless words, expressions, or phrases–and I’m in LOVE with your posts, so please do not kidnap your blog without leaving a FWD address.
